The doctrine of the Ascension is one of the neglected parts of theology. But the fact that Jesus' ascension was prefigured in the Old Testament, and reaches it climax with the bodily ascension of the resurrected Christ 40 days after resurrection Sunday, is one of the most important aspects of New Testament theology for us to live into. Jesus became a human being in order to save us through the incarnation. He was resurrected as a human body, and He ascended to the right hand of God as a human - fully God and fully human. And He is at the helm of all creation right now.
