This Sunday’s Gospel reading is Jesus’ parables of the Treasure Hidden in a Field and the Pearl of Great Value. In his sermon, “It’s Like Being Found While Finding,” Pastor Earl explores Jesus’ way of describing the kingdom of heaven and how he invites us to approach these two brief parables from an imaginative and unconventional perspective.
This Sunday we celebrate the beginning of a new school year for students, teachers and staff members working at area schools and universities. The sermon text is the Parable of the Mustard Seed from Matthew 13:31-32 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is “Start Small”, reminding us that making time for a brief moment of prayer and reflection each day can make a big difference in our daily lives.
This Sunday we continue our sermon series on the parables celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Ordination for Women in the Methodist Tradition. Pastor Teresa preaches on Matthew 13:33. Her sermon title is “A Story Bigger than Me.”
We begin our sermon series “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus.” In this series, we’ll hear some of the parables Jesus taught. This Sunday Pastor Earl preaches on The Parable of the Sower.
We conclude our four week sermon series “I’ve been meaning to ask you…” and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is titled “Where Do We Go From Here?” The Old Testament lesson is Ruth 1:1-22.“
We continue our July sermon series “I’ve been meaning to ask you…” This Sunday Pastor Teresa’s sermon title is ‘Where Does it Hurt?” and the sermon text is I Samuel 1:1-18. The sermon centers on the very human experience of pain and loss and our call to love like God loves, for God is close to the brokenhearted. Becoming beloved community to one another begins with simple questions like “Where Does it Hurt?” and having the curiosity and compassion to truly listen.
Our Sermon Series for July is “I’ve Been Meaning to Ask You…” and Sunday Pastor Teresa will be preaching on the creation story in Genesis 2:4b-15.

Join us as we celebrate PRIDE in worship! Pastor Teresa’s sermon—“Pride is for Everyone!”—based on Psalm 27, includes history on how the word “PRIDE” became part of the movement.
It is Trinity Sunday and the scripture lessons come from Exodus 3:13-15 and Colossians 3:12-17. Pastor Teresa’s sermon is inspired by the hymn “How Can We Name a Love?” and she will explore how the doctrine of the Trinity can open us to the experience of awe and wonder.
It’s Pentecost Sunday and we hear the traditional reading from Acts 2:1-21. We also hear Pastor Teresa’s sermon, “Breathing Together.”
We welcome a guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Eunbee Ham. Dr. Ham currently serves Madison Square Presbyterian Church in downtown San Antonio where our own Rev. Earl Kim will be preaching this Sunday. An exciting pulpit swap! Dr. Ham is preaching from Ruth 1:1-16 and her sermon title is “Your People Will Be My People.”
Pastor Earl will preach on the beloved story of the Walk to Emmaus in Luke 24 and reflect on the meaning of the sacraments–how they open our eyes not only within the church, but also to the many sacramental moments we have encountered, and will continue to encounter, along the journey of life.
We continue our sermon series “Stations of the Resurrection” where we remember the beautiful story of the resurrected Christ preparing breakfast for the disciples on the beach. The sermon text is John 21:1-14 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is “Breakfast with Jesus.”
This Sunday we begin our sermon series “Stations of the Resurrection.” This series carries us from through May 3 where we will encounter the resurrected Christ appearing to the disciples. This Sunday the scripture lesson is about Doubting Thomas from John 20:19-31 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is entitled “Wounded Healers.”

This Sunday is Palm Sunday! We continue our sermon series “Tell Me Something Good.” The Gospel Lesson is Mark 10:1-11 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is “The Good News Inspires Us To Act.”
It is the 5th Sunday of Lent and we continue our sermon series “Tell Me Something Good.” The scripture readings are Matthew 23:23 and John 8:2-11 and Pastor Teresa’s Sermon is “The Good News is Rooted in Justice, Mercy and Faithfulness.”
Join us for worship on this Fourth Sunday in Lent as we continue our Lenten theme, “Tell Me Something Good.” Pastor Earl will preach the good news of God’s care and protection for the vulnerable, which forms the foundation of our hope for true peace—not peace through strength, but peace rooted in God’s justice and compassion. The sermon will be based on the scripture readings Deuteronomy 24:17–22 and Matthew 19:13–15.

It is the 2nd Sunday of Lent and we continue our Worship Series “Tell Me Something Good!” Worship will be filled with wonderful moments including holy communion and Ben Opps will be here to “Tell us Something Good!” The scripture readings are Luke 7:36-50 and Matthew 25: 35-40 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is “The Good News is Great Love for God and Neighbor.” The Sanctuary Choir sings “Look and See the Face of Christ” by Marty Haugen.
This Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent and we begin with GOOD NEWS! Our sermon series for the season of Lent is inspired by the creative team at A Sanctified Art. The scripture lessons are John 2:1-11 telling the miracle at the wedding of Cana and Matthew 13:31-32, the parable of the mustard seed.
Pastor Teresa’s sermon is “A View from the Mountaintop” and the scripture lesson is the traditional reading for Transfiguration Sunday from Matthew 17:1-9. Transfiguration Sunday is a hinge for us. With this week, we move from Epiphany into Lent—going literally from the mountaintop into the desert. The mountaintop is much more comfortable and the pull to stay there is incredible. We welcome guest preacher Rev. Jim Harrington. His sermon “It’s Your Turn” is a call to action and the Old Testament lesson comes to us from the Prophet Jeremiah 7:5-7. Rev. Harrington is a Texas civil rights icon who has dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice.
This Sunday we celebrate UUMC’s anniversary of affiliation with Reconciling Ministries Networks. This service celebrates the strides that have been made in our faith communities towards full inclusion of queer and trans folks, and also place before us our ongoing work as queer and trans people of faith and allies. We welcome guest preacher Adama Brown, sharing her sermon “Love Still Wins”.
