Through the example of the people of Israel, we will be warned of the dangers of excusing sin. Through the example of Samuel, we will see the beauty of Christ and be encouraged by His steadfast faithfulness towards His people.

This week we will be introduced to Saul, the soon to be first king of Israel. As we are introduced to him, we will see how and why God chooses him. We will see through the narrative how a sovereign God responds to the demands of His people. We will learn lessons on how God works in the everyday events of life.

This week, in one chapter we are shown most of Samuel’s ministry. This chapter shows us the pattern that he continued for all his life. In it we will see the need for genuine repentance and faith and what a ministry built on that looks like. Through it we will celebrate that Jesus had the greater ministry than Samuel.
