Mission is something we can easily forget about if we're not careful. At the end of the day, we have been given the assignment, the Great Commission, to make a difference in our world! As we walk with Christ, everything that God is doing in and through us should be contagious to others! People should be able to experience God's love and grace simply by coming in contact with us!
When it comes to patriotism and being grateful to be called an America, what does it mean when we say, "God bless America"? To understand the actual meaning of that phrase we have to look at what the blessing of God looks like! Thankfully, we can find that all throughout Scripture and can pray for the blessing of God, not man, over our nation, communities and families!
Dad's are meant to be the anchor of our families - the rock that provides stability for everyone. While that job can be tough at times, God empowers us as father's to do just that! This morning we look at a dad in Scripture who could have easily threw in the towel but instead continue to offer forgiveness, reconciliation and stability to someone who didn't deserve it!
Tough questions often require tough answers and while we are expected to answer them that way we also need to do so with love. One of the most polarizing issues of our world is that of sexuality and ultimately how God has created us to function within His model. We are called to speak the truth in love in all arenas, especially in this matter.
Nothing will disinterest someone from hearing anything you have to say with regards to Jesus quicker than the hypocrisy of Christians. We've all run to hypocritical Christ followers and if we're honest, we've all been guilty of it oursleves. How can we respond to such things we see in the body of Christ? This week we dive into Scripture to find that very answer.
The conversation of heaven and hell is a challenging one, full of faith and belief that God and Scripture are exactly who they each say they are. The confidence of a promise of Heaven still leaves us with tough questions like, "If heaven really exists, why would God still send people to hell?" We've likely all asked ourselves that very question and this morning we dig further into tough questions like this and how we can be confident of God's gift of Heaven for each of us.
Questions are part of life and it's proof we're trying to make sense of it all. The real challenge is when we don't get answers to the questions we have and living with the reality that we may never fully understand. Just like as parents, we see the full picture when we give our kids an answer they don't like, or no real answer at all, we have to trust God that He does in fact see the whole picture in our lives when we have those questions.
Sharing our faith with others is a crucial part of our duty as Christ's followers but what if we don't feel like we know the answers to the questions we'll encounter? How can we point people in the right direction when we're not always sure of ourselves? This morning we begin our "Tough Questions" series with looking at some undeniable proof of not only the existence of God but the fact that He specifically created us and the universe!
Our praise isn't meant to be quiet - if we can cheer like crazy at a sports game, we can be loud for our God! As we conclude our More Than a Song series, we look at Scripture and are encouraged to come out of our comfort zone when we worship!
We are instructed to praise our God because He is worthy of it, but we also receive something when we take time to praise Him! The air in the situation we are facing changes when we take time to worship God in the midst of it. This morning we will be challenged to redefine praise in our lives!
This morning we continue to look a few more crucial elements of our worship as Christ followers and are challenged from Scripture to realize that our worship is to be internal and external! We ought to be willing to worship God in all circumstances for what he's done for us through salvation!
Typically we think of worship as being quiet, dignified and put together, but Scripture paints a different picture of how we ought to praise God! This morning we look at one of the Hebrew words to describe worship and look at how that picture may change our understanding of how we engage in worship in our lives!
In Luke 19 we see the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem just days before His death on the cross. A point that can be glossed over at this point in the story of salvation is that Jesus knew what was to come. He knew what He was doing, that He was fulfilling 500 year old prophecies, that the people didn't understand what was happing, that He was worthy to be worshipped and ultimately that He was headed to death, but continued on for us. He chose you.
Every great accomplishment or victory starts with a moment. It's a moment of no return and sets the wheels in motion for what will one day happen. David recognized the moment even as a young boy that laid the groundwork for what God was going to do through him and his leadership. As for us, our time is now!
The biggest and most incredible of outcomes begin with the smallest of actions. Just like something as small as a spark can alter the lives and futures of many, so can the 'small' things we allow God to do in our lives. The "domino" of purchasing a building can lead to so much more that we can do with God's help in our neighborhood, community and city! If we allow what God has planted in our hearts to take root and grow, only He knows how much it would impact our world as a result!
When we are part of something bigger than ourselves, we have a role to play! One thing is certain - God has not called us to be observers! When Nehemiah received authorization [and the blessing] to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, he didn't just show up and boss people around, he got to work! As we move into what God has for us as a church, we have a role to play!

This morning we look at the life of Esther - how God called her from where she was to a place she wasn't necessarily comfortable with. The beautiful part of her story is that God used what made her uncomfortable to do amazing things! As we see in her life however, there is a difference in praying for more and stepping into more!
Selfishly, we seek the blessing of God for what it means for us, but what if God's blessing isn't just about us? People like Abraham eventually came to understand the greater purpose of God's blessing on his life - to be a blessing to so many more! As we continue through the prayer of Jabez, we must remember that when we ask God to enlarge our territory and to bless us, that we must also be willing to bless others throughout the process!
We're called to make room for more - more of God, more grace, more impact in our world and more of the territory God has for us to claim for Him. Making room for more demands that we step out of our comfort zone to follow what He has for us - are we willing to do that to experience all that God has in store for us?
It can be difficult for us to to see how something may come together when we're faced with challenges and reasons why it shouldn't work out, but that's cause we're tempted to look at the mountain in front of us and forget that Jesus walks with us in those moments! Often times, the greatest plans that God has for our lives is accompanied by an initial fear of the unknown, but even when we can't see His plan, there is one! Will we be willing to follow Him until the point the plan is revealed to us?
When Moses led the people of Israel out of Egypt, they walked into obstacle after obstacle on their way to the promised land. The first of those obstacles was in fact the fortefied city of Jericho. The task in front of them looked to be impossible, but God had already done the impossible to get them out of the hands of the Egyptians. What miracle has He done in your life that you can look back on to remind you He is capable of the miracle you need right now?
All too often we are found guilt of looking at what we don't have - the skills, finances, determination or confidence - rather than looking at what God has called us to do. The story of Gideon is the perfect example of wht God can accomplish in and through us if we are just willing to trust Him when it doesn't make sese. Fear has no place in our lives when God has called us forward.
It's easier to say than to take to heart, but God is for us! As we move forward, we have to remember that He goes before us and holds our tomorrow!
Stepping into what God has for us can be scary at times, but if we're unwilling to take that step we'll never accomplish everything that He has in store for us! Beginning this week we will look at how we can choose faith in the face of fear.
