As we continue our series in the book of Philippians we are encouraged to keep moving forward in the Christian life, to be careful who we follow, and to remember who we are and where we belong!
Regular guest speaker, Doug Loveday, continued our series in Philippians "Joy in the Journey".
I Want to Know Christ Philippians 3 7 11 Andreas Diamond
Guest Speaker Dale Ward continued our series in Philippians - Joy in the Journey. We learned from chapter 3 that, as Christians, we experience real joy when we serve God by His Spirit, boast in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh.
Continuing in our walk through the book of Philippians, Doug Loveday highlighted our need for relationships with other believers to help each other walk more closely with Jesus.
Work Out Your Salvation I Philippians 2:12-18 I Adam Hockley
Jeff Martin (WBC Elder) continued our series in Philippians - focusing on the humility of Jesus who was fully God and humbled Himself by taking on a permanent human body because He loved us. We are challenged to follow His example of humility; praying “Lord, show me what you want me to see and do and give me the strength to follow through!”
Dr. Barker challenges us with the same message Paul had for the Philippians: Since they were people that find encouragement and comfort from Christ's Holy Spirit and each other, they need to be people of unity, humility and generosity to others.
Doug Loveday continued our series in Philippians, encouraging us to live lives worthy of the gospel, which includes living with consistency, unity and confidence.
Doug Loveday continued our series in the book of Philippians.
Guest speaker, Dr. David Barker explained that because of Paul’s imprisonment unbelievers were pointed to Christ, believers were given confidence, and Christ was preached!
WBC Member Brant McLaughlin continued our series in the book of Philippians - Joy in the Journey. He showed from 1:9-11 that God’s true love overflows! It overflows into our minds, into our hearts and through our hands, all for God’s glory!
Sermon Series: Joy in the Journey. Guest speaker Gord Martin began our summer sermon series on the book of Philippians, focusing on Philippians 1:1-8. He showed us that our journey is made bearable by Christian fellowship. Made possibly by life in Christ. Made meaningful by eternal purpose.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus Our guest speaker, Phil Bauman, shared the final message in this series.
Joy Formed In Truth John 17 13-19 Phil Bauman podcast
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Kevin Martin, reminded us that God loves us because we love His Son. We are united with Christ, and He knows us at an intimate level. Jesus prays that the Father would protect us, and we can trust Him.
Our guest speaker, Darcy Dueck, introduced Jesus' prayer from John 17. As Jesus was preparing to leave the disciples and return to the Father, He prayed with and for the disciples, but also for us. Jesus prayed about His identity, acknowledging that His time had come, and He asked God to glorify Him so that He can, in turn, can glorify the Father. He prayed about eternal life and knowing the only true God. And then Jesus asked to be restored to glory, acknowledging that He had completed the work that was set before Him.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? In John 21, the resurrected Jesus meets His disciples on the beach for breakfast, and reinstates and recommissions Peter by asking him three times, "Do you love Me?" Jesus then repeated the instruction He gave each of His disciples when He called them at the beginning of His ministry: Follow Me! To follow Jesus we need to look to Jesus, listen to Jesus and love Him.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Steve Adams, reminded us that every Christ follower will have times where they must choose to be mobilized by faith or paralyzed by fear. He took us back to the beginning of the gospel where John wrote that Jesus is full of grace and truth. We must live in the biblical tension between the two if we want to look more like Jesus.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Steve Adams, reminded us that our greatest joy and deepest longings are found and fulfilled only in Jesus Christ. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and asked her who she was looking for? The "what" we are looking for in life is actually a "who" - the risen Christ.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Steve Adams, spoke about the crucifixion from the gospel of John. Jesus, at the cross, gives us four gifts: 1. He gives us the assurance of His deity. 2. He gives us a new life to be lived. 3. He gives us a new home. 4. He gives us absolute certainty.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Steve Adams, walks through the narrative or Jesus' interaction with Pilate while on trial. He reminded us that we have choices in life. We get to choose our master, we get to choose our mission, and we get to choose to finish. Let's follow the example of Jesus in these choices.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Steve Adams, walks us through the narrative of Jesus' arrest and trail. We learn about motivations from the actions of Judas and are reminded to examine our own motives. We are reminded that the Kingdom is both now and not yet, and we are to be hopeful, watchful and joyful.
Sermon Series: Why Jesus? Our guest speaker, Steve Adams, walked us through the narrative of Peter denying Jesus three times right before His crucifixion. When we fail in our walk with the Lord, we can find hope in Peter's story. Jesus had warned Peter that Satan demanded to test him, but Jesus assured him that He would pray that his faith would not fail. Peter's repentance led him to restoration and ultimately to Pentecost. We too can be restored into right relationship with Jesus.
