Galatians 4 begins with Paul’s contrast between a slave and a son. Through Christ believers have been adopted into God’s family and can cry out to Him as Father. The chapter also challenges us to offer grace while Christ is still forming people. Our preferences are not the standard for another person’s salvation. In Exodus 4 God asks Moses what he is holding in his hand. His staff represented the familiar life he had built in the wilderness.
