Be Attentive, Be Reasonable, Be A Good Relative: Lonergan and the Ongoing Work of (Re)Conciliation

Bernard Lonergan, SJ (1904-1984) was an exemplary Canadian thinker, an innovative Jesuit philosopher and theologian whose public career also overlapped with the Indian Residential School System and its program of cultural genocide. This podcast series attempts to think about these two realities together: the legacy of Bernard Lonergan and the legacy of Residential Schools and the broader settler colonial project. It is the result of a two-year SSHRC Insight Development Grant funded by the Government of Canada, in which a team of non-Indigenous and Indigenous researchers sat together to think about the mutual entanglements of this Canadian thinker with the violent, oppressive, but also sometimes creative and constructive encounter of European colonial powers and Indigenous peoples on the land of Turtle Island.
