Are Christians allowed to eat food offered to idols? And what is the difference between pagan food sacrifices and the Lord’s Supper? Pastor Adrin Muñoz delivered a sermon based on passages from 1 Corinthians 10:1-33 and 11:17-34.
Paul confronts a church proud of its knowledge but careless with its love. In 1 Corinthians 8, food offered to idols becomes the test case: knowing idols are nothing means little if that knowledge wounds a weaker brother’s conscience. Chapter 9 shows Paul practising what he preaches, laying aside his rightful apostolic privileges for the gospel’s sake. Together the passages press one question on us: will we insist on our rights, or surrender them in love so others are built up, not torn down? Prayer is part of our Christian life but why should we pray. Listen to this sermon on Colossians 1:3-14 by Pastor Roger to know why Paul prays to encourage us to pray.
We need God’s help to adopt a prayer posture that is filled with humility and not pride. Second, our prayer posture needs to follow God’s holiness, His will, and not be filled with evil. Finally, our prayer posture needs to be filled with God’s grace, where we forgive one another, so that we can be fully forgiven by God. Come listen and learn from Pastor Chia Han Shen as he expounds on Matthew 6:5-15.
